Okay! As promised, here are some stats for the first half of the year reading wise (courtesy of my beloved StoryGraph):

I'm excited to be on track for my yearly goal of 10 books a month, because in the last few months I feel like I have been losing steam. It's nice to have a little buffer heading into a portion of the year where I am going to be much, much busier.

To the surprise of no one, "emotional" is the biggest piece of this pie as I like to read things that make me feel - even if those feelings are pain. I've got a lot more moods here with bigger representation than in years past, which honestly I love to see. I pride myself on reading a variety.
Speaking of variety...

This graph is always one of my favorites because, 1. the top line is always significantly longer than all the rest, and 2. the sheer variety of genres I read in a given year. That top line needs to be even longer by the end of the year - still working on that.

Unsurprisingly, I tend to rate books higher because if I'm not enjoying a book, I simply don't finish it. I'll give a quick shoutout to the top 3 fiction and non-fiction (because the non-fiction has been HITTING) books I've read this year so far:
Top 3 Non-Fiction:
Braiding Sweetgrass
Hijab Butch Blues
Bless The Blood
Top 3 Fiction:
The River Has Roots
Escaping Mr. Rochester
Siren Queen
And that's the first half of the year! I'm hoping to continue this momentum through Q3 and Q4 (especially since my birthday is in August). Maybe we'll have some new favorites: time will tell :)
